Condition: This is quite the unusual piece - the hallmarks indicate that it could be Russian or Austrian as the Austrians used the double eagle mark also if they were purveyors to the court. So that little mystery of who and what country we will leave up to you! There is also the Hebrew letter Aleph and another letter that is a partial strike.
We first thought it could be an Etrog box, but it is a little small for that so I will just say trinket box.
On the hinged lid there is an applied decoration of the Tree of Knowledge and the Asp, there is a raised oval of silver surrounding the decoration, I am not sure what the purpose of this is.
I would like to point out that on the underside there is "To Audrey Pierre '79" scratched in one corner - it can be easily buffed out by a jeweler, we have adjust the contrast on the photo to make it more visible for you to see.
Pattern/Design: Asp / Tree
Type: Box
Markings: See Photos
Measurements: Approx. 2.73 x 2.24inches height is 1.35 inches
Weight: 140.00grams - We have x-ray tested this and confirmed Sterling Silver
